28 | Halliburton Landmark parameters are applied at a broad scale in order to highlight areas in which conditions for that particular parameter are likely to be favorable. These individual parameters are then overlapped to identify where all petroleum system elements have the potential to be both present and buried at the correct depth to be effective. These results should not be considered a replacement for more detailed fairway mapping, but rather an indication of the potentially prospective area within a basin. This indication can then be taken and compared with other basins in order to rank their potential., Imposing a set of standards on data at this initial stage of the exploration lifecycle is a key theme of this article, laying the foundation for analogous standards to be implemented as more focused work is undertaken. The great benefit is that when new data are available, at any stage in the lifecycle, they can be seamlessly integrated into the existing analysis. By taking advantage of cloud technologies, workflows such as those described herein can be conducted at a global scale in minutes, and the impact of the new data realized just as quickly (Figure 5). This rapid iteration also enables the testing of numerous scenarios, and versatility in workflow development. To that end, our cloud- hosted screening application is continually being developed to incorporate more data types and execute more complex workflows. A CRETACEOUS CASE STUDY As part of our Year of the Cretaceous, the workflow described in this article was applied to screen and rank the exploration potential of Cretaceous clastic plays in offshore settings. This study and its results were presented at our annual Landmark Innovation Forum and Expo (LIFE 2019). If you were unable to join us at LIFE 2019 and would like to arrange a re-run of this presentation, please get in contact. Predicting Charge in Frontier Basins Recent high-profile failures in deep-water settings underline the difficulties of predicting charge in frontier basins. So how can we mitigate charge risk and better understand Cretaceous petroleum systems to improve our chances of success? Explore the latest innovations from Neftex ® Insights via the icons above.
