facilities and is recognized internationally for its
innovative research, the quality of its graduates,
and its strategic partnerships.
In 2017, Halliburton Landmark granted software
worth $91 Million USD to the Colleges of Science
and Engineering at Sultan Qaboos University. The
grant provides access to some of the industry’s
leading software solutions in geosciences,
drilling, and reservoir management, enabling
students to gain a fundamental foundation in
these technologies. By using cutting-edge
Landmark software at SQU, learning can be
accelerated, and students can be better equipped
to join the oil and gas industry after graduation.

Halliburton Landmark has invested in increasing
collaborative research that encourages student
interactions, thereby, bringing industry and
academia closer together. This contributes to
human capability development and innovatively
stimulates productivity in Oman’s economy.
In September 2019, Oman’s NTI TechPro
community granted Halliburton Oman the
esteemed award of Best Innovative Talent
Development Initiative in the country, for its
exceptional contributions in developing Omani
local talent, promoting in-country value.
One of the students who benefited from
Halliburton’s contributions was Amani Qasim.

Geoscience.
I am now a newly hired Geosciences Associate
Consultant with Landmark. I am also currently
finishing my post-graduate studies at Sultan
Qaboos University in Petroleum Geology, and
expecting to graduate in 2021.
The journey in completing my MSc with SQU
and working for Halliburton Landmark provides a
great experience for me to focus on my skills in
the fields of geology and geophysics and improve
them. Having the privilege to learn and specialize

The Landmark University Grants Program brings
many benefits to students. It enables them to
gain focused experience, giving them the skills
and technical knowledge to navigate through the
software solutions efficiently and effectively. This
equips students with the technical knowledge
to get them ready to join the job market. The
program also increases the usage of Landmark
technology, not only for course work, but also
for projects and research activities, and provides
return on investment.

H.E. Dr. Ali bin Saud Al Bimani, the Vice
Chancellor of SQU, said that it is proud to
associate with Halliburton’s initiatives to support
teaching and research through a comprehensive
software grants program. He hoped that the
program would support undergraduate and
postgraduate teaching and research in seismic
processing for exploration, drilling, production,
and beyond.
OMAN RECOGNIZING VALUE
Halliburton places a focus on sharing the benefits
of the oil and gas industry across Oman through
its In-Country Value initiatives; one of which
is Halliburton’s University Flagship initiative.
In 2016, she completed an internship with
Halliburton Landmark. She is currently using
Landmark software provided as part of the
University Grants Program to complete her
masters in petroleum geology. She is a graduate,
newly hired by Landmark, working as a Geology
and Geoscience associate consultant. Here’s
what she has to say about her experiences:
“Having completed my summer internship
in 2016 with Landmark, I managed to build a
foundation on the industry standard solutions
and operations. A focus was placed on learning
the fundamentals of petroleum operations,
in DecisionSpace Geoscience offers the
opportunity to utilize the software in my academic
and professional research. I am planning to
employ the gained skills and learning outcomes
not only to become an expert in DecisionSpace
Geosciences, but also to aid me in my Master’s
final year project.”
