European Fund Flows Data
These graphs show the assets flowing into and out of all active and passive European-domiciled equity funds over the past year( data provided by Morningstar).
– European and GEM equities have been the biggest winners in 2017 attracting roughly € 25bn and € 15bn respectively up to the end of July.
– Despite three months of inflows immediately following the presidential elections, US equities have since suffered outflows in every month, amounting to roughly € 9.5bn between February and July.
– Japanese equities is an interesting asset class. A few months back some good macro data came out of Japan and we have seen investment sentiment improving in several countries. More money has gone in than out of Japan in every month of 2017 bar March. Total inflows: € 4.5bn.
– Asian and frontier equities, the latter being much smaller, have also clawed back some AUM in 2017 but considerably less than their big brother GEM.
