A Message from the Chairperson.
It is customary to begin these forewords with standard expressions of delight and honour etc., but in this case, those feelings are completely genuine. Around fifteen years ago, I had my Experience Economy epiphany and realised that a new phenomenon had arrived. And so I helped create a database of UK experience providers called Experience UK. Today, I’ m the chair of a vibrant and fast-growing trade association which champions British companies in the visitor attraction and wider experience world.
For too long, the Experience Economy has been seen( if seen at all) as a somewhat theoretical concept- an intangible sector which has been grudgingly acknowledged but not fully recognised or celebrated. All that has changed.
The Mayor of London has cited the Experience Economy as a huge economic and commercial driver. Manchester has published an ambitious and exciting visitor economy strategy. Universal has announced plans for a multi billion theme park in Bedford. Overseas, the APAC region is set for rapid tourism and entertainment sector growth; the Gulf States continue to invest heavily in these sectors from Saudi Arabia’ s mind boggling giga projects through Dubai’ s continued growth to the recent announcement of a new Disney theme park in Abu Dhabi. I firmly believe that the Experience Age has arrived.
To reflect this, our Guide features an array of outstanding UK companies whose products and services can deliver solutions across the experience world. Whether it is innovative design, AI tech, traditional skills or comprehensive know-how, all coming with an outstanding track record and excellent cultural awareness, we have it!
And to welcome the Experience Age, Experience UK is set for an action packed year in which we will
Take companies to the major international trade shows Run trade missions to key markets Host webinars on key markets and trends Fill our weekly members’ newsletter with up to date information and market intelligence Run social events across the country to encourage b2b contact in an informal setting
Our select group of partners stand ready to help with all back of house issues; our experienced Board can offer advice and support and our close relationship with the Department for Business and Trade keeps us abreast of HMG policy and actions in the creative industries.
If you are already a member, I look forward to serving you... if you are not, then come aboard and join the world’ s only trade association specifically created for the Experience Economy!
