Exploring the Enchanting Trail at Windsor Great Park Illuminated
Any visitors of Windsor Great Park between November 2023 and January 2023 were in for a delightful surprise . The Windsor Great Park Illuminated seasonal light trail , now in its second year , featured a fresh design with imaginative installations that brought the surrounding woodland and water to life in a spectacular array of colours .
Taking place across 2.2km of the forest , the event produced by IMG had a new AV integrator for 2022 following a competitive tender process , LCI Productions .
“ Unlike other events that are hosted on clearly marked paths within well-tended gardens , we had the unique challenge of working amidst a dense forest ,” says Kathryn Stafford , the manager of arts and entertainment at IMG . “ From our experience last year , we learned that a forest requires a vast amount of lights to create an immersive experience . Collaborating with our new AV partner , LCI Productions , we incorporated more advanced features and increased overall lighting , while taking utmost care to ensure the safety of the park ’ s plants , animals , and wildlife .”
“ Our brief was to take the concept from last year and improve the flow across the geography of the site , make a bigger impact and add the ‘ wow factor ’” explains Rob Paul , Design Director from LCI Productions . “ This was a unique site to work with because you get amazing views across the whole vista that you don ’ t get with other trails . We wanted to work with that and ensure that both visually and through the narrative , guests were always drawn to the next experience and looking across the trail in anticipation - this is the skill of a lighting trail designer .”

“ We wanted to keep fan favourites , such as the sea of light , a 69m by 16m display created using 96-pixel chains each consisting of 300 LED lights , and transform other areas to give them more intrigue .” Paul explains .
