Hi ( Story ) of a Painting : Inspiring new audiences through the stories of iconic art
Fat Red Bird creates innovative and thought provoking content . The team started out making award winning short films , created branded content for clients such as the Institut Français du Royaume-Uni , Mandarin Oriental , Eurostar and British Airways and have now launched into award winning cutting edge immersive experiences .
The company , in partnership with Monkey Frame Ltd , launched ( Hi ) Story of a Painting , an animated VR series created by Quentin Darras and Gaëlle Mourre . Designed in collaboration with educators and art historians , the series is aimed at engaging audiences with art and art history by creating engaging experiences focused on the human stories behind some of the world ’ s most iconic art and artists .
The idea is to inspire new audiences through the stories of artists ’ techniques , struggles and successes . Each episode focuses on a single artist , their most renowned work of art , and their path to success . By linking these stories to contemporary topics , the project shows how relevant these iconic artists and artworks are through time .
Showcased in VR , the project gives the player a chance to live history and engage with the story by collecting “ story bonuses ”. The VR environment also gives a sense of scale of the artwork in question , and allows the player to create an intimate link with the piece in front of them .
