Virtual art : from gallery to the streets
Digital design studio ISODESIGN creates immersive location-based experiences all over the world , for galleries , museums , cultural attractions , brand and visitor experiences .
The studio was commissioned by Creative Scotland to look at how digital technologies could be used to create new audience experiences , make exhibitions more accessible and to literally transport the gallery to the high street .
Working with fashion designer Beca Lipscombe ( Atelier E . B .), fashion writer and researcher Mairi MacKenzie , and produced by PANEL , they proposed designing a digital exhibition for TRAMWAY Glasgow . The venue is one of the largest in Europe for visual arts and performance , which seized the opportunity to embed art into vacant shop fronts to attract a new , diverse audience who might not usually visit a gallery .
DRESSING ABOVE YOUR STATION is an exploration of the work and fashion of Scottish painter Steven Campbell . ISODESIGN created a 1:1 scale digital model of the main Tramway exhibition space and presented Steven ’ s work , as if an actual physical installation , as ultra-high resolution images of his paintings , 3D scanned outfits , memorabilia and interviews with his partner and collaborators ; all accessible as a real-time 3D tour as an online experience .
