Next time you see a child playing Fortnite or Minecraft , have a closer look . Too many people think computer games are 2D animations . No , they are sophisticated , meticulously detailed 3D world environments represented on a 2D screen . Look at them in virtual reality ( VR ) and you are fully immersed . Your child has a character moving easily through the landscape - tackling challenges , building , fighting and collaborating with their mates .
This scenario is the future of the high street .
Imagine a parallel digital world that integrates seamlessly with the physical one . As you walk down the high-street , you look through special glasses to see digital content alongside the real world . Information popups up , music plays , animations materialise .
