THE PIG & STY , BETHERSDEN
Located just a short drive from Bethersden Village , in the heart of the Kentish countryside , the Pig and Sty is a Grade II listed public house in a beautiful setting . Not long renovated by the Elite Pub Group , the place oozes with historical character , with its traditional fireplaces , exposed brickwork and Dering windows . An eco-friendly menu showcases some of the best local produce and offers a variety of classic and international dishes , making it the perfect family foodie destination . One of the pub ’ s best assets though , has to be its garden . The huge space boasts views across the surrounding fields and beyond , and there ’ s even a beautiful wooden play area for the kids . A great little spot to watch the sunset , whilst enjoying a mouth-watering wood fired pizza and glass of chilled , local wine – perfection .
THE WEST HOUSE , BIDDENDEN
Tucked in the Weald of Kent in the village of Biddenden , is a 16th century weavers cottage that houses one powerhouse chef and his gem of a restaurant ; The West House . Established in 2002 , the family-run business is now coming up to its 20th anniversary of serving the people of Kent the most incredible food , made with only the finest ingredients that chef Graham Garrett can get his hands on . A not-so-perfectly-kept-secret , the place where lucky locals come to dine has also had visitors flocking from far and wide , clambering for the opportunity to sit in the rustic , characterful dining room and be to be treated to some of The West House ’ s best creations . Priding itself on using only the best ingredients from both near and far , the food is delightfully unpretentious and down to earth ; simple , yet exceedingly delicious . Just some of the mouth-watering dishes on the sample menu include raw Orkney scallops ; Cornish hake fillet ; and roast middle white loin pork . Luckily for us , dishes change so often at The West House , that every time you visit this extraordinary establishment there will be something new and fabulous waiting to tingle your taste buds .
THE SWAN RESTAURANT AT CHAPEL DOWN
Not only does Chapel Down hold tours and tastings at their sprawling vineyard , it is also the proud home to The Swan Restaurant , which is situated within the winery itself .
