Global Perspective
India is likely to remain the world’s
fastest growing major economy in 2019-
20; with growth likely to be 2.5x global
growth. Brazil, Russia and South Africa
are likely to have sub-par GDP growth.
Inbound FDI – FY’15 – 9M FY’19
Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) inflows
have grown at a CAGR of 13% during
FY’15-18, driven by government reforms
and further FDI liberalisation in retail,
defence and the insurance segment.
Equity inflows grew from US$30.9bn
in 2015 to $44.9bn in 2018. The first nine
months of 2019 have produced $33.4bn.
Leading regions were Mumbai with
31%, National Capital Region (NCR) on
20% and Bangalore with 8%. Chennai and
Hyderabad then follow.
