St Petersburg is a federal city and administrative centre of Russia ’ s Northwestern Federal District . It is the second largest city in the country and an important economic , scientific and cultural centre , as well as being a major transport hub .
The historic centre of the city and its associated monument complexes are included in the UNESCO World Heritage List As of January 1 , 2021 , the city ’ s population was 5,384,342 people .
Local expertise The city is the largest transport hub in Russia and the main branches of St Petersburg ’ s economy and industry include :

Main exhibition venues The ExpoForum Cultural and Exhibition Centre offers 50,000sqm of indoor exhibition areas and 40,000sqm of outdoor areas . Its congress centre has capacity for 30,000 people ( 68 conference halls ). Petrocongress Centre has 14 halls , offering capacities ranging from five to 450 people . The complex has a 600sqm multifunctional lobby which can be adapted to zoning .
