RUEF : Milestones of achievement
We trace the proud 30-year history of the Russian Union of Exhibtions and Fairs , including noting some key landmarks in its illustrious journey which it began on 11 December 1991
The Russian Union of Exhibitions and Fairs ( RUEF ) is an association of leading Russian exhibition organisers , owners of exhibition venues , service companies operating in the industry of exhibitions , fairs , meetings , congresses and events , as well as representatives of the exhibition business in CIS countries . RUEF is active in consolidating the participants of the exhibition , congress and event industries , in order to contribute to the development and strengthening of these industries in Russia and promote them in the international market . Today RUEF unites 124 members from more than 20 regions of Russia and from CIS countries .

RUEF Timeline 1991 – The RUEF was established . Sergey P . Alexeev was elected President . The Union consisted of seven members . 1993 – The Regulation on the Union Trademark was adopted to recognise the significance of trade exhibitions for the Russian economy . 1994 – The Union became a member of the RF Chamber of Commerce and Industry . 1994 – The RUEF was admitted to UFI , the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry . 1996 — The Union releases its first publications : Statistical Review , Exhibitions . Fairs catalogue . 1999 – Lenexpo hosts 7th UFI Summer Seminar . 2001 – The first Russian guideline Exhibition Management published under the editorship of N . V . Aleksandrova and I . K . Filonenko . 2004 – The 1st All-Russian Conference : ‘ The role of Exhibition and Fair Activities in the Development of the Russian Economy ’ was held at Expocentre CJSC ( Moscow ). 2005 – Exhibition audit system introduced . 2005 – For the first time in Russia , the UFI Congress ( 72nd ) was held in Moscow . 2006 – First Russian exhibition members to pass the exhibition audit were published in the FKM guide , Euro Fair Statistics . 2007 – Exhibition , fair and congress activities assigned Russian Classification of Products by Economic Activities ( OKPD ) code . 2008 – Russia ’ s first educational programme on exhibition management was implemented at Lenexpo , UFI EMD . 2008 – S . P . Alexeev , Union President , became the head of the UFI European Branch . 2010 – Collating exhibition statistics from members on the Union ’ s website began , with a quarterly analysis of exhibition activities . 2010 – National Standard - GOST R 53103-2008 ‘ Exhibition and Trade Fair Activities : Terms and Definitions ’ introduced .
2010 – Government decree signed by V . V . Putin allowed the use of ‘ Russia ’, ‘ Russian Federation ’ in the Union ’ s name . It changed to the Russian Union of Exhibitions and Fairs . 2010 – RUEF launched its corporate conference communication ( videoconferencing ). 2012 – A new version of RUEF website www . ruef . ru was launched , and also social media pages and a YouTube channel . 2013 – RUEF Auto Expo Rally on the route Kaliningrad-Vladivostok-Kaliningrad held to promote regional exhibition activities . 2013 – The first All-Russian Exhibition Rating was published . 2014 – Concept of Development for Exhibition , Trade Fair and Congress Activities in the Russian Federation and the Action Plan for its implementation were approved . 2014 – Electronic edition Exhibition Centres of the Russian Federation published ( bilingual ). 2015 – A presentation of RUEF members was held at the Trade Representation of Russia in China ( Beijing ). 2015 – S . P . Alexeev , RUEF President , elected UFI President for 2015 / 16 . 2015 – A co-operation agreement between RUEF and International Association of Exhibitions and Events , USA , was signed . 2016 – First Global Exhibition Day announced by UFI on the initiative of S . P . Alexeev , RUEF and UFI President . The RUEF Auto Expo Rally through Russia , Mongolia and Kazakhstan was held in tribute to GED . 2016 – Occupational standard ‘ Exhibition Activity Specialist in Trade and Industrial Exhibitions ’ approved , developed by RUEF . 2016 – Exhibition and conference support activity was assigned Russian Classification of Economic Activities ( OKVED ) code 82.30 . 2018 – The 85th UFI World Congress was hosted by ExpoForum in St Petersburg .
