EW explores some regional news highlights in the global exhibitions industry
Asia – in-cosmetics Asia , a key event in the APAC region for personal care ingredients , closed in Bangkok on 9 November with organisers RX reporting record-breaking visitor numbers . Organisers said 11,772 unique visitors attended , 40 % of whom were international , compared to 32 % last year .
A record of 581 personal care ingredient exhibitors showcased their innovations at the event , a 40 % rise on the previous year . The Innovation Zone again served as the hub for new product development , showcasing 87 cutting-edge ingredients launched within the last eight months .
Americas – The International
Association of Exhibitions and Events ® ( IAEE ) has appointed Marsha Flanagan , as its new president and chief executive officer . She will take up her new role on 1 December 2023 . Prior to joining IAEE , Flanagan was the director of content strategy and development at the Promotional Products Association International ( PPAI ).
The appointment of Flanagan comes at a crucial moment for IAEE and follows the departure of David duBois as president and CEO on 1 October . Cathy Breden has served as interim president and CEO since then .
Europe – International B2B events and specialised data group Informa has published a trading update , confirming an increase in full year expectations . The group reports strength and momentum across the portfolio , with a 10-month group underlying revenue growth of 31.7 %. This has led to an increase in 2023 full year expectations to revenues of £ 3.15bn + ( from £ 3.05bn ) and Adjusted Operating Profit of £ 840m + ( from £ 790m ).
Full year revenues are expected to exceed 2019 pre-covid levels in North America , South America , ASEAN , the Middle East , Europe and China .
Americas – The US-based Exhibitions
& Conferences Alliance ( ECA ) and the International Federation of Exhibition and Event Services ( IFES ) are to partner on global collaboration and knowledge sharing . Both organisations say they look forward to collaborating on educational efforts and policy forums , advocacy support , and joint opportunities to serve the needs of the broader community .
“ This partnership is going to make a real difference . ECA understands how trade shows affect not just business events , but also communities and the global economy ,” said IFES president , Phillipe Beille .
