EW explores some regional news highlights in the global exhibitions industry
Europe – From 1 July 2022 , Reinhard
Pfeiffer and Stefan Rummel will lead Messe München into the future as joint managing directors . Klaus Dittrich will also be stepping down at this date as part of the changes to the Board of Management .
Pfeiffer has been a member of the Board of Messe München since 2008 and has served as deputy CEO since 2014 . Rummel has held a managerial position at Messe München since 2010 and became a member of the board in 2015 .
Asia – Singapore Airshow has concluded a strategic media and knowledge partnership with Aviation Week Network , an information and services provider for the global aviation , aerospace , and defence industries .
The partnership will aim to bring strategic insights to every Singapore Airshow , and the two years between each edition . Despite the current pandemic , Asia Pacific remains the fastest growing region in the world for aviation , accounting for 40 % of the new aircraft deliveries over the next 20 years .
World – The global events industry , with the leadership of the Joint Meetings Industry Council , has presented a roadmap for a net zero carbon future for events . Leaders from venues , organisers , suppliers , and associations demonstrated the industry ’ s commitment to fight climate change at the COP26 conference in Glasgow , Scotland .
At the time of the official launch of the Net Zero Carbon Events pledge , there were 109 businesses from around the world committed to taking action .
Americas – Las Vegas has welcomed the reopening of the US borders to fully vaccinated international travellers . Since the start of the pandemic , Las Vegas has lost a critical input to its economy owing to travel restrictions . In 2019 , 5.7m international visitors stayed in the city , resulting in US $ 4.8bn in direct economic impact .
As international travel returns , Las Vegas has started to welcome back many of the city ’ s major conventions such as IMEX America , 9-11 November and the DEMA Show , 16-19 November , with CES to come , 5-8 January .
