MECC Maastricht to host 2023 UFI European Conference

Oana Cipca , business development manager for MECC Maastricht , describes the charm behind the UFI European Conference ’ s next host

From 13 to 16 June 2023 , MECC Maastricht will welcome the European exhibition industry ’ s most prominent event , the UFI European Conference . MECC Maastricht has been a member of UFI since 2016 and , for that reason , we are proud to welcome our colleagues to our venue – and to the beautiful city of Maastricht .

Both organisers and visitors often tell us that they know they ’ re in good hands at the venue , that there ’ s a pleasant realisation they ’ ve entrusted their event to the professionals . For them , they ’ re surprised by our attention to detail , and we look forward to showing this to the UFI world next year .
Our new , modern , conference centre space is easily combined with our three exhibition halls . Additionally , it can also be connected to the Expo Foyer and Brightlands Foyer where the UFI conference plenary session will be held .
Facts and figures There ’ s a lot to like about MECC Maastricht and its city home , such as :
• It ’ s a compact conference centre with three overlapping stores
• Europe ’ s accessibility
• More than 30,000sqm of exhibition space
• A multifunctional Expo Foyer of 2,500sqm
• 55 break-out and meeting rooms
• Two auditoriums seating 1,700 delegates in total
• 5,600 hotel rooms in the city , which are easy to travel into from the venue
Maastricht ’ s charm Our ‘ home ’ is in Maastricht , and we challenge visitors not to fall in love with it . Apart from its extensive culinary and cultural offerings , visitors can see and feel the city ’ s rich history . The range of pavement cafés and hospitality establishments offer delegates a pleasant , relaxed moment – even outside the MECC walls .
Maastricht is also known as the heart of Europe where Belgium , Germany , and France are easily accessible . This EU regional position clearly reveals the influences and cultural impact of The Netherlands ’ surrounding countries . The French particularly left their mark on the city of Maastricht ; this is visible not only in the beautiful architecture and monuments but in the cuisine available in the area also .
The German influence may not be immediately obvious everywhere , but you can certainly hear it in the Maastricht dialect of Dutch . German architecture is also still visible in parts of Maastricht ; the city ’ s main park has ruins of the ‘ Duitse Poort ( German Gate )’. For everybody that visits the city , for business or leisure , the different European influences everywhere are what makes Maastricht , Maastricht .
