EW explores some regional news highlights in the global exhibitions industry
Bahrain – Bahrain ’ s Ministry of
Transportation and Telecomms has renewed its partnership with UK-based Farnborough International to organise the 2022 and 2024 editions of the Bahrain International Airshow ( BIAS ).
BIAS 2022 aims to build upon the 2018 show , which saw 11 of the top 15 global aerospace companies attend and US $ 5bn worth of aerospace orders and commitments confirmed .
Gareth Rogers , CEO of Farnborough International , said : “ We now have the opportunity to connect the global aerospace industry and spearhead innovations .”
Singapore – Aloysius Arlando has stepped down , 30 September , from his role as chief executive of venues at Constellar Holdings . The Board thanked Mr Arlando for “ building the events portfolio to more than 20 new-to-market events spanning industries including Industry 4.0 , FinTech and Healthcare .”
Constellar Holdings said newly appointed Group CEO , Jean-François Quentin , will oversee all matters , including venue management . In events , he will be supported by Chua Wee Phong , chief executive of markets , and the management team .
UK – Montgomery Group has appointed Shane Hannam as its new director of its Events division . He will work on a variety of events at Montgomery including the Speciality and Fine Food Fair , Independent Hotel Show London , and Independent Hotel Show Amsterdam .
Damion Angus , group MD , said : “ Shane ’ s extensive experience running large-scale international business events , not to mention his knowledge of and connections in the events and hospitality sectors , will prove invaluable .”
Paris – UFI , the global association of the exhibition industry , has launched its Global Policy Leadership Series ( GPLS ). The GPLS is part of the advocacy work UFI undertakes on behalf of the industry . This series will feature conversations with national government representatives discussing the role of exhibitions in economic recovery and building back better post-pandemic .
Anbu Varathan , president of UFI , said : “ Advocacy for the exhibition industry has become increasingly important throughout the pandemic .”
