World - A new UFI report on waste in the exhibitions industry gathered contributions from 40 companies in 22 countries . Compiled by Greenview , the report covered the regulatory landscape ; common challenges in waste management , as well as examples of best practice .
“ We need to go further collectively , and this report will serve as a basis for future action from the UFI Sustainable Development Working Group ,” said Philippe Echivard , chief of environment and security at Palexpo ( Switzerland ) and chair of the Working Group .
World - The World Travel Market
( WTM ) London and Travel Forward shows are going digital-only this year , and will take place on 9-11 November as ‘ WTM Virtual ’. Organised by Reed Exhibitions , the shows had been set to take place at ExCeL London 2-4 November 2020 . Travel restrictions , imposition of quarantine requirements and local lockdowns across Europe have meant that the events will be virtual experiences only . Show director Simon Press said : “ Sadly , this year will be the first time since we launched WTM London in 1980 that there will be no live event .”
Southampton - The UK ’ s Southampton
International Boat Show was cancelled the day before the event was due to begin . The show , BOATS2020 , had been set to run 11-20 September . Organisers British Marine said the city council cancelled the event , at 6:34pm on 10 September .
Lesley Robinson , CEO of British Marine , said : “ We are desperately disappointed , espcially receiving the news at the eleventh hour . A tremendous amount of work had been put in . Alongside our exhibitors , we were ready to open a show that exceeded all safety requirements .”
