EW explores some regional news highlights in the global exhibitions industry
Dubai – Global brand activation company Pico Far East Holdings has won contracts across a spectrum of services for the upcoming World Expo in Dubai .
The group is servicing some 20 pavilions , including national pavilions for Algeria , Brazil , Czech Republic , Malaysia , Malta , the UK , and the SAIC Motor booth at China Pavilion .
As well as overlay , car park and wayfinding packages , Pico is providing interior fit-out services for the temporary structure at the Dubai Exhibition Centre and for retail outlets across three districts .
UK – EW publisher Mash Media hosted A-Livex , an in-person exhibition with hotel rooms serving as stands , 20 May . The event welcomed more than 50 exhibitors across three floors of London ’ s Royal Lancaster Hotel , and was one of the first in-person exhibitions to take place in the UK since the pandemic began .
Hygiene measures were in place throughout the venue , with masks required when walking around , but not in exhibitors ’ hotel rooms . Hotel staff also cleaned the venue regularly .
USA – Emerald has announced that its NY NOW show , dedicated to the modern wholesale market for retailers and specialty buyers , will be the first major event to run at the reopened Javits Center in New York , 8-11 August .
The event will be operated in accordance with capacity and safety protocols of the NY State Department of Health .
“ NY NOW has always been one of the most successful biannual events at the Javits Center ,” said Alan Steel , president and CEO of the venue .
Germany – The Bavarian state government is to allow the resumption of exhibitions from 1 September , 2021 . NürnbergMesse welcomed the decision , which was taken on 18 May , and includes the further easing of coronavirus measures .
Dr Roland Fleck , joint CEO of the NürnbergMesse Group who received many industry tributes on his 60th birthday in May , said : “ The possible restart on 1 September gives our customers more planning security and perspectives for our exhibitions in the autumn ,” he said .
