EW explores some regional news highlights in the global exhibitions industry
Europe – UFI has confirmed the dates for its European Conference in Poznań , Poland , 4-6 May , in conjunction with the host organisation Grupa MTP releasing the following statement through its CEO , Tomasz Kobierski :
“ I want to reassure you that we are very far from the border here ; we believe now more than ever is time for us to come together , and we look forward to welcoming you in Poznan .”
The statement comes after growing concerns over the conference ’ s proximity to the ongoing Russian invasion of Ukraine .
Americas – The majority of visitors to Las Vegas in 2021 felt their travel experience met or exceeded their expectations , according to research published by the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority ( LVCVA ), 3 March . The findings were part of the LVCVA ’ s annual Visitor Profile Study .
The study found that 48 % of visitors surveyed felt their experience exceeded expectations while 46 % felt the experience met their expectations , despite some activities being limited due to the pandemic .
Asia – In the first step of the partnership between the Italian Exhibition Group ( IEG ) and Koelnmesse , the International Trade Show of Artisan Gelato , Pastry , Bakery and the Coffee World ( SIGEP ) is set to take place in Shenzhen , China in 2023 . The SIGEP is hosted annually at the Rimini Expo Centre , Italy where it showcases Italian-made products .
Corrado Peraboni , CEO of IEG , commented on Shenzhen ’ s SIGEP : “ It will strengthen its mission as the standard-bearer of Made in Italy food products in the world .”
Europe – GL events has released the annual financial statements for 2021 , which show an annual revenue of € 741.2m ( US $ 820 ), up 54.6 % year-on-year .
Olivier Ginon , chairman-CEO of GL events , commented : “ A good performance , combined with measures adopted to achieve cost savings and preserve our financial structure , enabled us to return to profitability and strengthen our cash position .”
Lifting of restrictions in the third quarter of 2021 and the adoption of the health pass had set the stage for this recovery .
