EW explores some regional news highlights in the global exhibitions industry
Americas – Society of Independent
Show Organisers ( SISO ) and Exposition Development Company ( ExpoDevCo ) have signed a three-year extension to the management services agreement currently in place .
The new agreement runs through to the end of 2024 . Services provided by ExpoDevCo include association staff , member services , and event management , with David Audrain as CEO and executive director . Audrain commented : “ SISO is a unique global organisation , representing the majority of the largest show organisers in the world , as well as many of the small entrepreneurial ones .”
Asia – Beijing North Star Convention and Exhibition Investment Co ., the developer of the China National Convention Centre ( Phase Two ) complex project , ( CNCC-II ), has agreed a deal with specialist consultancy firm GainingEdge to run the pre-opening operation and marketing of the Centre until 2025 .
CNCC-II is located in Beijing Olympic Sports Center Area and will serve as the Main Media Center during the 2022 Winter Olympics and is expected to open in 2024 as an international convention centre .
Europe – Former UFI MD and EW guest editor Paul Woodward , has joined the MBB-Consulting Partner Group . He brings 35 years of industry experience to the partnership . The Group leverages the expertise of its senior members to assist exhibition businesses looking to rebuild . He said : “ The challenges and opportunities with which senior management in the exhibition industry are grappling has never been more testing . It makes sense to pool the resources of some of the most senior independent consultants in the world .”
Americas – Informa Markets ’ South
Florida Ventures has acquired Premiere Orlando , the US ’ s largest beauty show , for an undisclosed fee . Premiere Orlando will take place at the Orange County Convention Center , 4-6 June .
The US luxury sector has been booming during the pandemic and Premiere Orlando has developed fast .
Ken McAvoy , president of South Florida ventures at Informa Markets , said : “ Premiere Orlando is a perfect fit within our community of shows in the region .”
