Interprefy launches real-time translation for online events
Interprefy , a provider of realtime interpreting technology for conferences , has announced the release of its new Interprefy Select desktop app .
The app allows meeting and event organisers to add real-time interpreting to any meeting and event held on any web conference , virtual event or live streaming platform .
Participants simply select their preferred audio language in the app alongside their event . As soon as the interpreter is speaking , the app will instantly auto-mute the original speaker to stream crystal-clear live interpreting with low-to-no latency , while the event is ongoing . When the interpreter stops , the audio will immediately switch back to the original event audio .
Annett Polaszewski-Plath , chief executive officer at Interprefy , commented : “ The new normal of connecting remotely offers an unprecedented opportunity for event organisers to attract a wider and more diverse audience . Swapcard acquires registration platform Avolio
Online event platform Swapcard has acquired Avolio , a registration platform based in the USA .
Swapcard says the acquisition will allow it to provide event organisers with one technology partner that can run all their hybrid and virtual events .
The acquisition comes following a 400 % increase in projected turnover between June 2020 and January 2021 for Swapcard . The company has also expanded from 45 to 100 employees .
The platform currently contains networking features , a virtual marketplace and live streaming services . Swapcard says the addition of registration makes it an “ all in one , end to end platform .”
Music festival SXSW , Expo 2020 Dubai and Informa are among Swapcard clients .
Baptiste Boulard , CEO and cofounder , Swapcard , commented : “ We are entering a new area where data will power experience . Clients want to control the entire data journey and provide attendees and exhibitors with one single login step , as well as create a custom experience for each user .”

Workspace launches new social distance monitor
WorkSpace , a division of IT specialists Emtec Corporation , has launched a new wearable social distance monitor called the WorkSafe Safe Spacer .
The device helps users maintain a safe social distance in the workplace , and alerts wearers when other units come within two metres with light , vibration and sound .
Emtec Co-Founder and CEO Martin Wedge commented : “ Safe Spacer makes it easy to monitor compliance and log collisions for contact tracing , allowing virtually any organisation across the world to check compliance , identify problem areas and keep both employees and visitors safe .”
The Safe Spacer uses ultrawideband radio-frequency technology to achieve precise distancing and is up to 10 times more accurate than traditional Bluetooth . When operated with other protective measures , the Safe Spacer reduces the possibility of person-to-person infection .
