The Kuala Lumpur Convention Center
(KLCC), in the heart of the city’s business
generation hub, is seeing an expansion
that will provide an additional 11,000sqm
by July 2019, including more
multi-purpose space and expansive foyers
for increased networking and cocktail
functions.
The Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC)
redevelopment will see 52,000sqm of
exhibition space added, although a
completion date has still to be published.

delegation of 13 to
India recently.
This was PCEB’s second edition of the
Penang Sales Mission to India and was held
at the ITC Grand Chola.
The delegation went on to three other
Indian cities, including Chennai;
Ahmedabad, Mumbai and finishing in New
Delhi on 14 January.

destination in Malaysia according to ICCA.
“India is one of the top five markets for
business events in Penang, and over the
past year, we have received encouraging
interest from organisers,” said
Gunasekeran, who noted that, in 2017, 13%
of business events of Asia Pacific origin
came from India, contributing US$46m.
PCEB also hosted 120 Indian buyers at
the inaugural Penang International Travel
Exchange (PITE), 4–8 September 2018.
Kesatria
Three new event ambassadors
were recently inducted under
the Malaysia Convention &
Exhibition Bureau’s (MyCEB)
Kesatria Malaysia Programme.
The appointments were
announced during the 7th
Kesatria Gala Dinner at
Shangri-La, Kuala Lumpur, in
December 2018.
Known as ‘Kesatria’, these
ambassadors play a vital role in
spreading the word of Malaysia’s
potential as an Asian business
events hub.
“As a growing segment of
tourism, the business events
industry is constantly spreading
its wings and it is the
responsibility of MyCEB to
continue increasing the pool of
champions,” said Datuk Zulkefli
Hj. Sharif, Chief Executive
Officer of MyCEB, who noted

events worth RM813m
(US$195.44m) for
the country.
