Fast forward
The rate of technological change is clearly
accelerating and digital disruption is now driving
change in all industries. The following chart posted
by #CES19 delegate and speaker Jim Harris brings
the pace of that accelerator sharply into view:
Number of years it took for each product
to gain 50 million users:
Airlines Automobiles Telephone Electricity
68 years 62 years 50 years 46 years
Credit Card Television ATM Computer
28 years 22 years 18 years 14 years
Cell Phone Internet iPods YouTube
A Happy New Year greeting
and newsletter to start 2019
from the ICCA UK & Ireland
Chapter, which offered up a
‘Ham hock and black pudding
terrine’ recipe to make the
most of those Christmas
leftovers. The emailer’s last
course sounded more of an
Eton mess, however, as the
report went on to praise the
hosts of the ICCA Congress at
the end of 2018:
“Dubai Tourism were
incredible hosts, making
the whole Congress an
unforgettable experience.
The final night’s dinner in the
dessert was nothing less than
awe inspiring.”

Joe Martin, Head of Social
Analytics @Adobe, started off
the New Year by showing who
was boss. He claimed to have
opened a meeting asking if
anyone wanted to be there.
“There was complete silence,
so we cancelled the meeting,”
he said.
And
good
luck at
the
WESAs!
In an ever more competitive
market, exhibition stand
designers are driven to deliver
clients’ projects using the latest
design concepts and creating
new visitor engagement
through innovative
architecture and technologies.
EW was, therefore,
pleased to support the World
Exhibition Stand Awards
(WESA) as a benchmark of
achievement and recognition.
Many have been telling
their stories of achievement
by registering entries, which
closed 11 January 2019.
Construction, Healthcare
Events, Gaming and
Automotive Events - all
included in the WESA’s
extensive categories - reflect
the large and dynamic global
exhibition market.
Companies having entered
the awards are also now part
of a large global industry
campaign.
The winning entries will
be promoted to the top 500
global brands, and their
designs featured in the World
Exhibition Stand Book in 2019.
We look forward to hearing
all about the winners and their
achievements.
