CES 2023 returned to Las Vegas
The world ’ s largest tech trade show , the Consumer Electronics Show ( CES ), returned to Las Vegas , 5 – 8 January – hosted at a variety of venues , including The Venetian Convention and Expo Center .
CES 2023 showcased brands and technology from a wide variety of tech sectors , such as computing , automobiles , mobile , transport , and home appliances . Across 3 – 4 January large companies such as Samsung , BMW , Sony , and Nvidia released announcements to the media about their upcoming technology and product innovations .
These included Samsung ’ s new foldable screens and BMW ’ s augmented reality ( AR ) dashboard concepts .
The show additionally provided collaboration and networking opportunities , demonstrated uses of the metaverse throughout various industries , and highlighted global advancements towards sustainability .
Overall , the show was attended by over 3,200 exhibitors – with attendees representing 173 countries , territories , and regions .

Hybrid helps Hong Kong ’ s in-person return
The Hong Kong Trade Development Council ( HKTDC ) kicked off its first 2023 trade shows on 9 January , jointly organised with Messe Frankfurt – the 49th HKTDC Hong Kong Toys & Games Fair , the 14th HKTDC Hong Kong Baby Products Fair and the 21st Hong Kong International Stationery and School Supplies Fair .
All three shows opened at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre and ran concurrently until 12 January , with 1,000 exhibitors showcasing a range of toys , baby products and stationery .
The shows ran under the EXHIBITION + hybrid model , which includes HKTDC-organised physical fairs , the smart business-matching platform Click2Match , online-tooffline seminars , and the hktdc . com sourcing platform .
To keep new in-person connections communicating , the Click2Match platform was accessible throughout January , allowing exhibitors and buyers to continue to conduct business discussions online after the physical show .
February will see the second edition of the LEAP Tech Conference , one of Saudi Arabia ’ s largest tech events . Taking place in the Riyadh Front Exhibition and Conference Centre , 6-9 February under the theme ‘ Into New Worlds ’, the show is expecting over 100,000 attendees and 900 exhibitors .
The show ’ s main stage will tackle pressing topics such as the climate crisis , sustainability , global health , and diversity and inclusion . Meanwhile , keynotes and panels will also discuss the inner workings of the world ’ s tech giants , Web3 ’ s potential , and digital security .
Informa Markets , who organises LEAP , explained that the show aims to provide a window in on tomorrow ’ s technology . To reinforce this goal , show visitors will be mingling with robots from around the world as well as new contacts and clients . Attendees will see augmented reality ( AI ) at work , new uses for NFTs , and other technologies changing global industries .
