The Abu Dhabi Convention and Exhibition Bureau ( ADCEB ) has not been sitting idle during the pandemic , and is now ready to welcome the return of events
bu Dhabi has transformed into a global travel destination over the past 20 years , and as has been already established , its ascent has resulted in an increased influx of both leisure and business visitors , who come in search of new opportunities and experiences .
While the investment in tourist attractions , such as Yas Marina Circuit , Ferrari World , and Louvre Abu Dhabi , to name a few , substantial investment has gone into the MICE infrastructure , too .
In March 2013 , the Abu Dhabi Convention and Exhibition Bureau ( ADCEB ) was established in the capital with an aim to cement the emirate ’ s status as a leading global destination for meetings , events , and tradeshows . Since its inception , Abu Dhabi has enjoyed a great deal of success , profitably scaling its proposition for business events .
ADCEB has positioned the city as the premier choice for planners , leveraging its strategic location at the crossroads of Europe and Asia .
In the last decade , Abu Dhabi has hosted numerous globally significant conferences and large-scale exhibitions and tradeshows , resulting in a rise in the number of events held in the capital . In 2019 alone , more than 13,000 events were licensed in the city with an estimated total of 23,700 speakers and 1,300 entertainers involved .
Giving the emirate ’ s MICE facilities a considerable boost , ADNEC , which hosts more than 327 events and 1.6m visitors annually , raised the curtain on a new event space in 2020 . Built specifically for meetings and conferences with a difference , The Hive boasts 865sqm of space , comprising an 80-seat auditorium called The Collaboratorium , a versatile space named The Lab and three meeting rooms .
The year 2019 also proved lucrative for unconventional event spaces , with Etihad Arena , Louvre Abu Dhabi , Manarat Al Saadiyat and Qasr Al Watan leading the charge .
Proving that the bureau ’ s hard work is clearly paying dividends , Abu Dhabi was named the ‘ Middle East ’ s Leading Business Destination ’ at the 2019 World Travel Awards .
Of course , in 2020 the entire world was rocked by the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic , with international events
