Across larger venues and destinations there also needed to be a balance between different events taking place simultaneously to ensure the flow of people or a lack of signage did not provoke unnecessary friction .

At the end of the roundtable discussion she said : “ I think it ’ s really interesting that we managed to bring together not only security professionals , but also people from the within the venue and the service partners to discuss the bigger piece together .
“ There were so many things that we agreed on , but also this has been a really interesting discussion on the areas where we didn ’ t necessarily agree . I ’ m looking forward to how this is going change what we ’ re saying and what we ’ re doing and how we ’ re acting going forward .” Dengate added that the introduction to the counter terrorism officer could help generate a cross-industry strategy to responding to terrorism risks when Protect Duty legislation is introduced .
“ Having a framework that can be adapted , appropriately would be beneficial to organisers , venues and security contractors ,” she said .
Turner concluded : “ It was really good to get everyone around the table and have good discussions and working together .

Phipps concluded : “ I think there ’ s a willingness to come together and talk about this stuff and make sure that whatever that outcome looks like whether that ’ s venue or event specific or a mix of both , it ’ s going to be what will serve our customers best going forward .”
