Company Culture
Our people
are the secret

Who do we really work for?
P
“Our employees
feel empowered
enough to
approach and
speak with
anyone, at any
level of the
business.”
eople don’t work for an employer. Employers
pay the wages and provide the benefits, but it’s
our colleagues that really make the difference to
our work experience.
Every one of us, wants to make a substantial
contribution to our organisation’s goals. We want
to find our work engaging – or even fun. We all
want to be part of something important, and feel
pride in what we achieve. No matter what position
we hold in our company, we all want to feel we are
a vital part of the business and important to our
teams.
In my time at dmg events here in the UAE, I’ve
seen at first-hand how the workplace attributes,
make it an exciting place to grow and learn. Simply
put, the fun and creative people I work with, make
for great colleagues. They improve my work and
encourage me to do the same for them. These great
people, who make up our diverse and growing
global team, are the essential ingredients in our
company culture.
Some organisations might dismiss company
culture as a page in an annual report, or just
mention it as a few lines in a recruitment advert,
but it is actually crucial. Our company culture is
the expression of its personality. Each member of
our team contributes something to it, through their
ideas, openness and participation in everything we
do.
Our people’s passion influences how our
company and our event brands are seen by others.
As they approach each edition of our events with
the same fervour as when they were first launched,
their enthusiasm and drive is contagious.
Our company culture anchors people’s time at
dmg events and it’s why so many stay for so long.
It’s the kind of longevity we’re really proud of
and we showcase it on social media – especially
LinkedIn – every chance we get. Why? Because
we believe it is a unique selling point that makes
us standout from our competitors in the events
industry as an employer of choice. The positive way
our people view their time here contributes directly
to our hiring success and our high-numbers of
referral hires.
When people feel good at work and good about
what they are doing, organisations can reap very
tangible benefits. Our employees feel empowered
enough to approach and speak with anyone, at any
level of the business. We tap into this environment
of openness, encouraging grassroots innovation
through our campaigns like Raise the Bar, where
we encourage our employees to share their ideas to
enhance any aspect of our business.
Raise the Bar and other initiatives like it, help
everyone give voice to their views, fostering a
collaborative spirit that transcends our diverse
locations. It’s a spirit we harness to drive
innovation and fuel our entrepreneurial outlook,
allowing our people to take risks, while capitalising
on the growth opportunities they spot.
The result is an organisation where people
work hard to help each other and our clients. We
play hard too, because some things just have to
be done for fun. But no matter how busy we are,
no matter what pressures we feel, our company
culture remains compassionate, with empathy a
cornerstone of who we are as professionals and
colleagues.
From the outside we are a big company. But on
the inside we are a close-knit family and like all
close-knit families, we work together.
