LAST WORD

As with every event organiser , the past few years have seen Montgomery Group resetting and reevaluating what makes our business unique and valuable to our audiences and our teams .

If you ’ re unfamiliar with Montgomery Group , we currently organise 50 events from global offices in the UK and Europe , Africa , and Asia , spanning food , drink and hospitality , construction , art and photography , manufacturing and security . Having been established in 1895 , Montgomery has a long-standing reputation as a trusted partner to our exhibitors , visitors and stakeholders around the world .
With such a global business , it is vital to think of ways to make our teams , especially outside of our UK head office , feel connected , valued and part of a singular vision . In some ways the pandemic sped up this progress , with everyone working from home we had more opportunities to bring our employees around the world together on an even footing .
Prior to the pandemic , the entire company was involved in helping define our purpose , vision and values . This took several months but the outcome defines who we are . The premise revolves around servant leadership and our full purpose statement is ; To serve our world nurturing relationships and developing opportunities . This combined with our four core values ; Ethically Commercial , Growth Mindset , Embrace Collaboration , Empowerment and two aspirational values of sustainability and diversity are at the heart of all the decisions we make .
Each value emphasises the fact that we trust our fantastic people to succeed in a way that works for their region , industry and communities , while working alongside other teams to share learnings and best practice . There is always room for growth and if someone has an innovative idea , we want to nurture an environment where they can be creative and challenge themselves without fear of failure .
We realise the importance of consistent training , upskilling , and creating opportunities for our teams , whether through working with colleagues within the business or investing in

external training . Our internal mentorship programme gives employees a chance to connect with colleagues in different areas of the business for a new perspective .
Our teams around the world have the opportunity to take part in a number of working groups , covering diversity and inclusion , sustainability , marketing and sales . The all-important social committee organises monthly Thirsty Thursdays , parties , charity days , external speaker programme and company away days . Employees can also nominate their peers in a recognition scheme , to acknowledge and reward passionate and talented individuals across the business .
Ultimately , being an independent business allows us to focus on what really matters to us . We want individuals to feel cared for , believe in our purpose , live our values , and feel trusted and empowered . This we hope will enable them to fulfil their potential and have rewarding and lengthy careers in the events industry . EN
