Med tech launch
Medical Technology is launching for the first time in the UK at Coventry Building Society Arena .
The event will take place on 16-17 March and will look to build on the foundations set by its sister event , Medical Technology Ireland , which takes place at Galway Racecourse in September .
Medical Technology UK is set to attract more than 120 exhibitors . The inaugural Women in MedTech forum will be launched to highlight the experiences of female engineers .
Colin Martin , director at Medical Technology UK , said : “ There is no other event in the UK with the degree of focus that Medical Technology UK will have . Other , more general , design , engineering and manufacturing events exist , however none address the unique needs of the medical device design and manufacturing community with such clarity .
“ We ’ re pleased to also be launching the Women in MedTech forum at the show .”
Twitter joins isla
Event sustainability body isla has grown to more than 100 members .
Twitter is the latest brand to join the likes of Channel 4 , Westfield London , and CNN International as members . isla was launched in September 2020 with 12 founding agencies and supplier members . It has grown to support exhibition organisers , venues and brands in their sustainability efforts .
More than 600 event professionals have undertaken training modules .
Kat Bednarczyk , senior business marketing manager at Twitter , said : “ Having access to isla ’ s training , guidance and tools will build our team ’ s confidence and knowledge to deliver our event programmes sustainably .”
This year isla will launch its carbon measurement software , Trace , which captures emission and waste data from live , hybrid and digital events .

New chair for BVEP

Chris Skeith has been announced as the new chair of The Business Visits & Events Partnership ( BVEP ).
The appointment will see Skeith OBE , who is currently director of EIA – representing the AEO , AEV and ESSA , take up the role on a two-year term taking over from Simon Hughes , who moves into the role of immediate past chair .
Skeith said : “ I feel very privileged to be taking on the role of BVEP chair at this pivotal time for our industry and would like to express my personal thanks and appreciation to Simon for helping us to navigate the past two years . “ There is no doubt that we still face enormous challenges as a sector , but with those challenges come opportunities . Along with the executive committee and partner members , it is my aim to ensure that the BVEP continues to be an independent and inclusive organisation which supports the continued recovery of the entire events industry , and that we work together to ensure that the UK remains one of the most attractive destinations for events of all kinds .”
The umbrella organisation will also be introducing several individual sector working groups , designed to gain improved data and insights , which can be shared directly with government and the wider industry . The working groups , will include business events , outdoor events , skills , talent and diversity , advocacy and government relations , research and business intelligence .
