Blackpool has ambition – do you? Blackpool is undergoing a huge programme of regeneration with investment in public realm, transport infrastructure, visitor attractions, hotels and events. As part of this rejuvenation of the UK’s most visited seaside resort, a new £28m state-of-the-art conference and exhibition centre is being integrated into the world-famous Winter Gardens complex. Situated in the heart of Blackpool, the Winter Gardens comprises multiple venues including the Empress Ballroom, the Opera House Theatre, conference facilities and an extraordinary collection of function and exhibition spaces. During its glorious 140-year history, it has hosted some of the biggest names in show business as well as staging major party political conferences, West End shows and international events. It is the home of the world’s biggest ballroom dance competition. When the new facility opens next year, it will create an inter-connected space with capacity for up to 7,000 delegates. Its operating company, Blackpool Entertainment Company Ltd, is looking to make two senior appointments to help take the Winter Gardens into the next phase of its development and secure its place as a key driver of Blackpool’s economy. Commercial Director The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and delivering the commercial strategy for the Winter Gardens and overseeing the events programming. Candidates will have significant commercial experience and business acumen, ideally gained in an entertainment, programming or venue context. The post-holder will lead and manage the activities of the Operations Management Team in order to ensure the venue meets and exceeds the leading-edge offers of other similar venues, while also identifying and optimising revenue opportunities and operational efficiencies.
