Event News NORTH WEST’S BIGGEST WEDDING SHOW Name: North West Wedding Show Date: 18-19 January Where: Exhibition Centre Liverpool The North West Wedding Show began ten years ago, after organisers wanted to create a wedding show was a memorable experience for both visitors and exhibitors. Director of the show, Joanne Fenna, said: “We have sacrificed profit to give visitors something different at each show because our ethos has always been about making sure everyone enjoys our show, feels relaxed and has the reassurance that they are dealing with reputable and professional suppliers.” The show has added several new areas over the past few years, including The Curious Place, a feature area dedicated DESTINATIONS IS GOING PLACES Name: Destinations: The Holiday & Travel Show Date: 16-19 January and 30 January-2 February Where: EventCity Manchester and Olympia London Destinations was originally formed from a belief that people need face-to-face guidance and inspiration to help them build travel experiences. In the 35 years since the show’s beginning, this ideal is still at the core of the show. The 2020 show will feature over 300 exhibitors as well as two ‘Meet the Experts’ theatres which allow attendees to discover new destinations. Other features include the Travel Writers’ to couples looking for a non-traditional wedding. New for the 2020 show is a wedding catwalk with LED video walls, where dancers model wedding dresses and perform choreography. Each show attracts between 4,000- 5,000 visitors, and the 2020 show is expected to have the same results. Festival in conjunction with Stanford’s book shops, which enables visitors to hear real life stories of adventure from experts which have included Sir Trevor McDonald, Simon Reeve and Rick Stein CBE. Destinations will also have two immersive features called Taste and Experience the World where experts present food, drink and cultural performances from the regions featured at the show. London 2020 will see the launch of the Travel Smarter Stage; a space dedicated to travel tips, hacks and inspiration. Guests will include leading travel influencers, experts on travel safety, photography and travel writing. The last five years have witnessed a 32 per cent increase in attendance for the London show from 38,000-51,000, alongside a 27 per cent increase in Manchester to 31,000. Show manager, Rob Debenham, said: “I think that one of the main reasons that What’s next? Fenna said future plans for the show were: “To continue being the biggest wedding show in the North West, to continue making it the best show we can possibly make it.” Destinations has continued to grow in size and depth of offering is the enduring quest for adventure and new experience.” What’s next?
