What makes One Earth (cover story) so special is that it’s the first mainstream event of its kind. It satisfies a growing national and global movement, mainly driven by parents, Millennials and Gen Z to do more to save our planet. It’s a significant and bold step by an organiser to create an all-encompassing, educational platform to help people to make a difference by showing them what things they can do, apart from using recycled bags at supermarkets or waste management. There are many companies across the exhibition industry that are striving to reduce their carbon footprint and they should be commended. It’s important news and I’ll back any company that’s trying to do the right thing. It dawned on me that B2C exhibitions are one of the few ways to support public sentiment, influence opinion and drive change. Every protest march, festival and sustainability event each has a part to play – they’re all events and they attract large crowds and unify voices. I believe, every organiser no matter the size, should support events like this or have a go at producing one themselves. I suspect One Earth will be one of many over the coming years and I wish them the very best of luck.
