What a
positive way
to end 2019.
T
he UK exhibition industry has performed well despite
global economic uncertainty, and Brexit hanging over
our heads like the Sword of Damocles. The fact that both
visitor and event numbers have continued to rise in 2019 is
a testament to our resilience, determination and incredible
creativity. I suspect there will be some casualties in the
months to come, but overall this issue is a celebration of
what we’ve achieved over this past year.
Having worked on many UK events myself, I can’t help
thinking that being an island may have somehow protected
us. We are, as a whole, less reliant on overseas visitors to
boost our numbers unlike our European counterparts. I’m
not saying that overseas visitors aren’t important but they
do make up a smaller percentage of visitors to events in
the UK. In reverse it’s probably why we rarely produce the
gargantuan events we see overseas.
Theories aside, this has been a great year for British events,
and we deserve to celebrate, eat, drink and be merry this
Christmas.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year
