ANOTHER YEAR OF
SUCCESS FOR PET SHOW BIG PLANS FOR BIG DATA
Name: National Pet Show
Date: 2-3 November 2019
Where: NEC Birmingham Name: Big Data LDN
Date: 19 November 2019
Where: Olympia London
Six years ago, Fitz Media saw a gap in
the market and launched the National
Pet Show, an event aimed at educating
visitors on how to be responsible pet
owners.
As the largest consumer pet show in
the UK, the National Pet Show attracts
over 200 exhibitors per year, as well as
sponsorship from leading pet industry
names. This year saw a 25 per cent
increase in visitor ticket sales from 2018-
2019, as well as 26,321 attendees, making
it the largest National Pet Show.
The show features a range of talks from
industry experts, and real-life animal
demonstrations. This year, there were
120 different dog and cat breeds for
visitors to interact with.
Other features included the Animal
Rescue Barn, where local charities
brought a selection of dogs, rabbits, hens
and more that attendees could adopt,
as well as talks from TV personalities
Michaela Strachan, Noel Fitzpatrick,
James Bowen & his Street Cat named
Bob and stuntman Ben Atkinson. Big Data LDN was created for modern
data professionals, as events for those
in the data industry were either small,
expensive conferences or add-on zones
in existing wider IT events.
The show aims to addresses anything
that individuals need to know if they are
using or plan to use data to advance their
business.
For 2019, Big Data LDN added an extra
theatre to their agenda, increasing their
content by 25 per cent. The headline
keynote was Christopher Wylie, the man
who blew the whistle on Cambridge
Analytica. Managing director of Big
Data LDN, Bill Hammond said: “We
were excited about this as that was a
real watershed moment around the
world which made individuals and
companies alike take notice and realise
the significance of data.”
The event’s total audience was 9,150
people, a 34 per cent increase on 2018’s
event.
Hammond said of the event’s success:
“It’s been said that ‘data is the new oil’
and in recent years that seems to be
becoming more and more apparent.
Companies are transforming to become
Data Driven.”
