Can ' t smile without you

I n this issue we look at what makes a great visitor experience . This is such a subjective matter that we ' re not singling out one individual show or organiser leading the charge . There ' s so many great experiences out there . The key to great visitor experience , according to all our contributors and interviewees this month , is seeing smiles on faces . That ' s data we can all interpret . So we ' re celebrating being happy . It ' s been a long two years and I think you all deserve it .

This month , we hear from the brilliant Tobacco Dock ( p10 ) on the attention to detail they bring to creating an outstanding customer experience . It ' s goes right down to the coffee they serve to bikers .
James Lee , founder of StepConnect2 argues that business events do not need to be boring ( p15 ) and Noel Reeves of Rocket Exhibition Services tells us how they create great experiences with unique , custom designed and sustainable stands ( p45 ).
We ' ve extra reason to be happy this month . We saw Internationl Confex returning to its usual diary slot - and I can ' t count the number of happy , smiling faces I saw packed into the aisles at ExCeL . It was my first time at the show and I could not have enjoyed it more . Every single one of the hundreds of you I spoke to over the two days told me just how happy you were to be back , that your industry event is so important for the health of your businesses and the emotional wellbeing of event profs ( p29 ).
Last but by no means least the EN Awards ( p34 ) on the eve of this issue going to press saw many of you grinning from ear to ear .
As further uncertainty looms over the world , I can ' t quite bring myself to tell you " don ' t worry , be happy ", but seize the opportunity to smile when you can . So here ' s to smiling . Happy reading .
