Event News INTERNATIONAL FRANCHISE SHOW IMPROVES USING BRITISH TOURISM SURVEYS & TRAVEL SHOW POSTPONED Name: International Franchise Show Venue: ExCeL London Original Date: 3-4 April 2020 Postponed to: 4-5 September 2020 The Franchise Show began in 2008 with the vision of connecting budding entrepreneurs with franchisors looking to expand their franchise portfolio. The event was launched as there was no large international franchise exhibition in the UK. The exhibition’s aim was to offer the UK’s largest selection of franchise brands under one roof, and it now annually welcomes over 200 exhibitors, 50+ seminars, workshops, live demos and expert advice. Each year the event organisers, Comexposium, listen to feedback from post-show surveys and implement new measures to ensure the event is improved year on year. For 2020 the show’s seminar agenda has been refined to give attendees topics and expert industry speakers they want to hear as well as launching a new Business Resource Centre. Comexposium has decided to postpone the show due to ‘rising numbers of COVID-19 cases in the UK’. It has now been moved to September 2020. Managing director of the show, Event: British Tourism & Travel Show Venue: NEC Birmingham Original Date: 24-25 March 2020 Postponed to: 11-12 June 2020 Christian Yandell, said: “This is a not a decision we have taken lightly. In consultation with our exhibitors, venue management at ExCeL and potential visitors we have come to the conclusion that the show will be better moved to September to give government and health authorities ample time to assess the virus and its implications. “Health and safety of our exhibitors, visitors and our own staff is of paramount importance and we have taken this step to ensure that no one under our care is put at risk, no matter how small. We have listened to our franchising community and feel that there is no other course of action at this point.” What’s next? Marketing manager for Comexposium, Joshua Christopher, said: “Our future plans involve continuing to expand the event with focus of key trends in franchising, growing our international presence, and striving to always improve and build on feedback from our visitors and exhibitors each and every year.” The British Tourism & Travel Show 2020 show is set to have ‘more exhibitors than any other UK travel trade event this year’. The event annually attracts over 2,800 visitors including tour operators, travel organisers, GTOs, coach operators, tour wholesalers and agencies, in addition to over 250 hotels, visitor attractions, venues, tours, DMOs and popular destinations. Among the new exhibitors for 2020 will be Adventure Parc Snowdonia; Royal Opera House; VisitDover; Hambledon Vineyard; and Glanusk Events. Many of the British Coach Tourism Award 2020 finalists are also planning to attend the event. Features at the show will include country pavilions from Tourism Ireland, Scotland, and Visit Wales, as well as a range of international brands, such as Europlan and RED Tours/Europamundoand Worldwide Attractions. Due to increasing concern regarding the coronavirus, the British Tourism & Travel Show’s event organisers Diversified Communications UK has postponed the event, following consultations with those in the industry.
