Physical therapist ( PT )
+ Offer exercises , tricks and tools to ease symptoms like imbalance , falls and freezing , which can impact exercise
+ Design and modify goal-directed workout programs from diagnosis throughout life with disease
+ Suggest local exercise classes + Recommend a cane or walker , when necessary , and teach to use
Occupational therapist ( OT )
+ Keep engaged in activities (“ occupations ”) you care about
+ Assist in developing personal goals and reviewing progress and achievements
+ Help build and maintain healthy habits to improve quality of life
+ Support independence , considering your strengths , environment and activities that are important to you
Music therapist
+ Use music and rhythm to improve walking , lessen symptoms like freezing and boost motivation
+ Work with PT and OT to design the best program for you
Fitness professional
+ Serve as coach , cheerleader or certified personal trainer + Lead or instruct classes or help you carry out an exercise program
+ Teach to use gym equipment and practice proper form , and keep exercise fun and interesting
+ Collaborate with PTs and OTs who have Parkinson ’ s expertise
Mental health care provider
+ Talk through and treat mood changes , negative thoughts or behaviors that can interfere with motivation or ability to exercise
