EDITOR ’ S LETTER

SUMMER ISSUE 2025
“ Unless you ’ re secretly an octopus , it ’ s time to stop juggling everything .” I just loved this sentence in this issue ’ s flagship feature , written by the insightful Heidi Horne . As a working mum of three who tries to tick lots of other boxes too , like seeing friends , caring for family , looking after the home and – at the time of writing – preparing for the festive season , it really spoke to me .
In her piece , Heidi explains how incredibly distracted we ’ ve become and shares stats that show multitasking is a myth , not the superpower we so often claim it is . She goes on to label stress as ‘ the silent killer ’ and this really hit home . Prioritising rest isn ’ t often encouraged or celebrated in today ’ s culture but we must change that before it ’ s too late ; even if it ’ s one person at a time . If you ’ ve felt stressed and burned out this year , flick to page 20 . It ’ s a must-read .
Elsewhere in the magazine , there ’ s lots going on . Jo Jones has some big updates in her career column . She ’ s got a great a new role ( and if you read Executive PA online you ’ ll know why ). She goes into further detail about this in Recognition .
We ’ re also looking at some new professional development books ,

reviewed by readers , and some of our favourite writers are back with some thought-provoking articles , packed with tangible EA takeaways . From motivation and job crafting to exploring the right to disconnect , there ’ s lots on offer .
Until next time , take care .
