Motivating against ‘ quiet quitters ’ is only beginning

Being at the forefront of any business , EAs are going to have to help navigate the nuances of their industry sector and assist in the implementation of programs that walk the fine line between employee satisfaction and engagement , and increased productivity at a time when real wage growth is low .
The desire for remote working may continue to remain a must-have for employees but for many employers it is now regarded as less effective than it was during the pandemic . The 2023 KPMG CEO Outlook survey spoke to 1325 CEOs and 64 % of them anticipated a full return to the office within three years . It found further that 87 % would be likely to lure employees in with favorable assignments , raises and promotions .
Changes afoot Perhaps underpinning these findings is the relatively new catchphrase of ‘ quiet quitting ’. First mentioned on the social media platform TikTok , they were defined as “ those who no longer go the extra mile , and above and beyond in their job ” by associate professor Mark Humphery-Jenner at the school of banking and finance at UNSW Business School . Now , quiet quitters are becoming a hot topic in business boardrooms , recruitment agencies and tertiary institutions .
