Te Pae Christchurch Convention Centre is open for business

New Zealand ’ s first international standard convention centre is open and starting its first year of operation with a solid roster of events on its books .
Te Pae Christchurch general manager Ross Steele said while there is a strong contingent of domestic bookings in the first year , it has been pleasing to see the return of interest and bookings from international markets , particularly Australia : “ We know there is pent up demand for New Zealand , in particular Christchurch , so it ’ s been great to see interest translate to bookings for later in 2022 and beyond .”
With AIME around the corner and MEETINGS set to take place at Te Pae Christchurch in June , the team are also looking forward to reconnecting with Australasian clients and colleagues in person . Director of business development Gillian Officer will be jetting over to Melbourne in March to join Te Pae Christchurch ’ s Australian BDM ,
Heidi Heming , on the ground at AIME . She said : “ Like many people , our team is missing that connection that only comes with being face-to-face , so we ’ re looking forward to reconnecting with our industry and clients , and showcasing our wonderful new building .”
Operated by ASM Global , the world ’ s leading venue management company , Te Pae Christchurch marks the company ’ s first foray into New Zealand . As a result , the centre will be the first in the country to benefit from ASM Global ’ s wealth of international experience , as well as its industryleading initiatives . These include VenueShield , a hygiene and sanitisation program developed in conjunction with world health experts in response to the challenges faced by Covid . S
