Has America become completely cynical against
all pastors, preachers and ministers? Has America
lumped them all together into one heap with the
image of being "no good"? Has America created
their own god as a result of witnessing
hypocritical ministers? Has America re-created
her own theology concerning marraige, sex,
family, church, spirituality, and finances?
With statistics like the ones listed below
from a 2011 survey conducted by the Fuller
Institute and Focus on the Family; what is the
answer for the church community? Will a
show like Preachers' Exes really be a part of
the solution, or the "downfall" of the church
as many have said? How will Preachers' Exes
be different from Preachers of LA? What
separates Preachers' Exes from the rest of the
Reality Shows on today?
. 70% of pastors do not have anyone they
consider a personal friend
. 90% of pastors feel they were inadequately
trained for their ministry and dealing with the
demands of the people
. 75% of pastors are highly or extremely stressed.
. 32% of pastors had sexual encounters with
someone besides their spouse.
. 25% of pastors are divorced
. 72% of pastors admit they only open their Bible
to prepare a sermon.
. 77% of pastors say they don’t have a good
marriage
Has America's faith in God faded because of past
and current hurts and disillusionment in the
church? ...Because of hypocritical Pharisee and
Sadducee types? ...Or is it that America simply
prefers to keep her iniquities and rebellions? Is
America angry at God because of those who have
hurt them through exercising their free-will
against them? One thing is evident in all of this;
which is, that"church hurt" and abuse is global
and not just localized. I'm reminded of these
scriptures from the very bible preached from by
ministers
every
Sunday:
" He who is a hired hand, and not a shepherd, who is
not the owner ofthe sheep, sees the wolfcoming, and
leaves the sheep and flees, and the wolfsnatches them
and scatters them. "He flees because he is a hired
hand and is not concerned about the sheep. "I am the
good shepherd, and I know My own and My own
know Me…" John 10:12-14 (NAS)
"Woe to the shepherds who are destroying and
scattering the sheep of My pasture!" declares the
LORD. Therefore thus says the LORD God of Israel
concerning the shepherds who are tending My people:
"You have scattered My flock and driven them
away..."Jeremiah23:1-2(NAS)
"For thus says the Lord GOD, "Behold, I Myselfwill
search for My sheep and seek them out. "As a
shepherd cares for his herd in the day when he is
among his scattered sheep, so I will care for My sheep
