On 20 December 2016, alumna Patricia Bamanyaki( DEM 2011, Uganda) successfully presented her IOB doctoral thesis entitled‘ Evaluating effects of local-level outside government gender budget initiatives: an application of theory-based evaluation, process tracing and a quasi-experiment in Kabale, Uganda’. Congrats to Dr. Bamanyaki!

Alumnus Mohammed Faruque Uddin( DEM 2013, Bangladesh) successfully defended his PhD thesis entitled‘ Effect of social capital on labour market attainments in Bangladesh’ at the Rajshahi University in Bangladesh. He examined the way social capital plays roles toward securing individuals’ wellbeing not only in getting involved into the job only but also how it can enhance other accomplishments within the place of operations.

Daniel Agramont, an alumnus( GLOB 2009) from Bolivia, has recently co-authored a book entitled‘ Bolivia: un país privado de Litoral. Apuntes para un debate pendiente’. This research, which has the support of Oxfam Intermon, studies the effects of Bolivia being a landlocked country. The results of the research were presented by Daniel at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the presence of the diplomatic corps, officials from foreign affairs and President Evo Morales. The President even thanked Daniel on behalf of the Bolivian people for the relevant research.
Alumnus Victor Oteku( DEM 2016, Kenya) won the International Development Research Centre( IDRC) research award to work on his project entitled:‘ Political analysis of the innovation environment in Kenya: A comprehensive understanding of the nature of partnerships for innovation in the country’.
Alumna Gemma Piñol( DEM 2008, Spain) conducted a Political Economy Analysis of Civil Society in Georgia and presented her findings at a seminar in Tblisi.
