Vision is indispensable to creation. Ten months ago, 27
creative minds united with the will to realize the vision of
Excelsior 2017- Ever Upwards. When eyes are set on the goal,
the winding path through the maze with its several twists and
turns cannot defeat the indomitable spirit. This 53 rd edition of
the magazine has been the translation of this vision on paper.
Over the years, Excelsior has emerged as the representation of
the character and culture of MANIT. The Freshmen Survey,
Travel Diaries and Speak Through Excelsior have been
introduced with the motive of reaching out to a larger section
of the student population, cutting across segments.
Identifying with the contemporary challenges, the cover story
dwells on the metaphorical maze confected by the
impressions of the social constructs. The idea that the exit
doesn't exist in the maze, but beyond, runs in its narrative.
Through the magazine, we welcome each one of you to step
into the maze, and as your steps get firm, you wi 11 discover the
most beautiful dance there ever is.
Making it through the winding and past the blind curves was
only possible under the mentorship ofour patrons
Dr. Vinita Mahindra and Dr. Savita Dixit. I am grateful to them
for empowering us throughout. Working with the best minds of
the college has been a humbling experience. I extend my
sincerest appreciation to the team for their perseverance,
especially in the final days when they didn't mind the clock and
kept continuing. I also express gratitude to my first critics and
biggest supporters- my family and friends who have been
anxiously waiting for the release of this edition.
Becoming one with the magazine has been the most
rewarding form of introspection. For I lived.
Bravely, imaginatively and passionately.

"It's good to have an end to journey toward; but it is the
journey that matters, in the end."
The sun is yet to rise as I write the last words for
Excelsior'l 7 as Joint Chief Editor. The journey has indeed
been long, and rewarding. If you're still here, I appreciate
your intent to know our story. Let's step back in time:
When we started with the magazine, we had but one aim:
to see further, standing on the shoulder of giants. We
envisioned the magazine as a culmination of the
precedents before us. Excelsior'l 7 was also an attempt to
reshape the thought process that goes behind the
magazine. Although, it's only in the implication through
years that the intended change will manifest itself, but we
take it from our old man T zu, and believe this to be the first
step of a journey of thousand miles.
I'm indebted and grateful to our patrons, Dr. Vinita
Mahindra and Dr. Savita Dixit for their enduring and
persistent support through vicissitudes of all nature. To my
team of Excel'l 7, I take pride to have had the opportunity to
work with all of you. I believe the journey will reward you,
as it rewarded me. I'd also like to extend my appreciation
to my friends and family, for reminding me of taking lunch,
and filling up exam forms among other things. We welcome
all constructive feedback from our readers to improve
Excelsior further.
To the readers, I firmly believe that you will find meaning,
relevance or respite, as you go through each page of the
magazine. I also hope you find yourself.
For here I found myself. not who I am but what I can be.
