best artists in the fields of fashion design , music , spoken word , filmmaking , fine art , poetry , photography , dance , digital arts , and more .
Current and future partnerships with other arts programs , and organizations such as Mused , Poetic Justice , the Woody Guthrie Center , the Tulsa Symphony , Clary Sage , the University of Central Oklahoma and OSUIT are intended to bring together a monthly sampling of the creative best our state has to offer . “ In addition to giving these talented artists a chance to display their talents , it gives the audience an opportunity to experience creative disciplines they may have never seen or heard before ” says Creative Director Wade Bray . “ Our hope with the showcases is that our already strong artistic community will grow even stronger with the increased exposure and the collaborative possibilities these showcases create .”
Thursday evening is Fashion in the Square a free event at Utica Square with special giveaways , an outdoor runway featuring merchant apparel , and K9 Couture , a dog fashion show .
Friday evening kicks off with Clary Runway , a runway show for students and alumni of Clary Sage ’ s fashion design program . The show takes place at the Cox Business Center ’ s Assembly Hall beginning at 6:30 p . m ..
Saturday ’ s Runway Finale show is the culmination of the week ’ s festivities with established designers from across the country ( New York City , Los Angeles , Kansas City , Bravo TV ’ s Project Runway ) showing their lines next to some of Oklahoma ’ s finest designers .
The debut of the Oklahoma Artist Showcase will take place at a date to be determined this Fall .
So as you can see there ’ s a lot more going on with Runway Tulsa than meets the eye . Economic development , education , and arts and cultural collaboration are all a part of this ambitious organization ’ s plans . “ We ’ re excited about the possibilities and what the future may hold for Tulsa on the fashion map ,” says Terry . “ In the meantime , we hope everyone enjoys our events and maybe thinks about fashion a little more often or in a different way .
The week concludes with a unique event Sunday , September 18 from Noon to 4:00 p . m .. The See It Now , Buy It Now event is Runway Tulsa bringing fashion ’ s hottest trend to town . This event gives the public a chance to meet the designers and purchase the apparel they saw on the runway the night before .
Development plans include a state-of-the-art event and training center in downtown Tulsa dedicated to serving Tulsa and its surrounding communities . The center would have an event hall , equipped with video , audio and lighting systems suitable for producing and hosting professional events . It would also include fashion design workspaces for students and workspaces for artist-in-residence participants . In addition , the facility would have meeting space and offices for the staff .
