PRESIDENT’S REPORT

October 2018

As members of the Pajero Club, there are a few ways that we can all make the Club stronger. One is providing the Committee with feedback and ideas. This might mean ideas of what is going well, what needs improvement, and what is not working for you. As a Committee we will take all the ideas on board and determine if and how and when we should implement them. Keep in mind that we might have different people at the one time suggesting longer, and shorter, meetings so that we may not be able to please everyone all the time.

The second way that Members can strengthen the Club is by introducing new members and especially by re-introducing past members who may have lost a little interest, or their life situations may have changed. We hope that we can offer the energy and vitality that may encourage some of these people to come back to meetings and trips.

We have begun to make progress with our three areas of focus:

making our members and guests especially welcome,

ensuring everyone finds value in attending our monthly meetings, and

providing a broad spectrum of Club trips and activities.

Member’s Representative, Robyn Burke, has taken responsibility for meeting and introducing new members. We hope that everyone else can assist Robyn and make sure that newer members are welcome at their first, second, third and all subsequent meetings: we were all there once.

Our Club meeting nights now have a short half-time break and we will review this if it is not working. The speaker list promises a variety of short talks with an aim that every person finds some interest in one or more presentations during each evening. We will retain our focus on TeamApp and explaining this as we help everyone in the broad space of communications by various media. Our Committee vacancy for Shop Representative has been filled by Paul Harris who has outlined a plan to develop this area at meetings.

Our Trip & Social Representative, Ed Reddick, will be able to suggest many potential trips if you are about to embark on trip leading, and so will any of the senior members with one or more ‘trucks’ on their name badges.

The POTY (Person of the Year) award is an important part of the club that encourages and recognises everyone’s contributions to the club. This will certainly continue but the Committee has decided to retire the initiative of giving multiple raffles tickets and prizes for different levels of contribution during the year.
