LOCATION/DESCRIPTION: Yes this is THE Australia Day Long weekend
camp in the Victorian High Country you have been waiting for. It’s the 12th
year of running this family friendly trip where you have the choice of 3
different trips per day.
We are proud to advertise this Family friendly long weekend trip in the
High Country base camping along the Crooked River in the grassy fields of
Talbotville (Dargo is the closes town). We have again chosen this location
as the majority of participants love the large open space and green grassy
area for the kids to muck around and spread out our tents and campers.
The safety of the group is paramount and the choice of base camp may be
changed depending on the fire situation in the region at that time.
A 4 day long weekend trip your family will not forget. This is a joint lead trip
by the same 3 TL for the last 11 years, Peter van Riel , David Howard &
Tony Jambu.
Want to do some of the iconic tracks of the Victorian High Country or just
lazing in camp reading a book in the Crooked River? Or spend a day
having a picnic at ‘a special swim hole’. And at night, sit around the
fireplace listening to some of our members play their guitars and serenade
the camp. If this interests you, then this is the trip for you.
Each day, the trips will be split into three groups so that you have a choice
between the three trips. They will be led by Peter, David and Tony. Some
trips will be more suited for experienced members while others with just
Proficiency grade. You have the option of staying in camp, swimming and
relaxing by the river or make short trips into the surrounding high country
ghost towns fossicking for relics.
1st day, Thursday will be driving to Dargo for lunch and then to the
campsite at Talbotville. It will be easy day spent visiting Dargo, Crooked
River Rd and adjacent tracks. Feel free to fish or swim in the river.
