PRESIDENT’S REPORT

December 2018

In earliest February 2019 the Committee will be spending a day looking at the longer-term strategy of the club. All members have been invited to contribute beforehand by providing items for our agenda, and these are best given to Sarah Harvey at the December meeting.

At the November meeting I was very pleased to be able to present a ten-year award to Frank Amato who has been a major contributor to the club including to the Exceed magazine, as photographer at many meetings and through his leadership role with the Variety Bash. At the same meeting, a twenty-year award was made to Ralph and Pam Longley for their services including to the Pajero Challenge, Driver Training Unit and for Ralph’s two stints as Club President. In addition, both Frank and Ralph have been recipients of the Ironbark Award. Arthur and Vicki Del Monaco, and John and Teresa Palmer, were given 30-year awards at previous meetings; and Peter and Marg Cogdon for 20 years. Recently, Doug and Wendy Hammerton joined a very select list of Life Members of the Pajero Club, congratulations.

Official club trips have insurance cover through 4WDVic and the policy is available now on TeamApp as a 4-page PDF. We are contacting 4WDVic to support other clubs looking for ways to assist members who belong to more than one 4WD club.

We are beginning two new projects that will run well into 2019. The archiving of the Club’s considerable historical data since inception in 1984 is being led by Ralph Longley working with Damian De Rosairo; and a review of our Rules and our Bylaws is being undertaken by a team of Stuart Gay, Paul Hicks and Ron Reed. Once these projects are underway, your input will be most welcome.

The Annual General Meeting of the Pajero Club will be on Wednesday 21st August 2019. It is not too early to think about roles in the club for 2019-2020. Every Committee position will be up for election and all club members are welcome to stand. There are descriptions of the various roles on TeamApp; you can discuss your interests with me and we will find opportunities to understudy current Committee to understand what is involved.

Also, there are many important non-Committee roles that keep the Club active and moving forward. Every meeting we have a team leading the front desk, another group keeping us fed from the kitchen, and behind the scene, but much appreciated, a long-serving group who make sure we receive our Exceed magazine at meetings or in the mail. Then there are those who lead and assist at our events like shows, bowling and parties, keep our rules and records in order, and of course those who lead our 4WD trips. From everyone to each and all our helpers, a very big thank you for these contributions to the Pajero Club.
