That was fixed and we headed off after our initial briefing and collecting medical details. We followed the Western Highway past Ballarat and stopped at Beaufort for coffee and to meet up with the Smurfinator (Ed) who was waiting for us there. We continued on, stopping at Horsham for fuel, before stopping for lunch at Dimboola. From there it was a quick trip via Jeparit to Rainbow where everyone topped up their fuel and we collected the MVO access key. Fifteen minutes later we were at our campsite for the weekend at Western Beach on the shores of Lake Albacutya. Albeit it tables, bbqs, toilets and cold showers, alas no water in the lake since the 1970s. What a great sound it is hearing a can open whilst enjoying fivessees. Whilst that was happening we got the fire stoked up for a campfire roast of roast vegetables, beef, pork, rabbit and some great deserts of cheese cake and golden syrup dumplings. Everyone did their bit to make it a wonderful camp dinner. It was a cloudless night as we sat around the campfire. The drooping eyelids told you it was time for bed.
