TRIP REPORTS to Dunstan Rd, and after travelling a short distance Mike reported a burnt electrical smell in his car and we pulled over to investigate. No warning lights came on, everything looked fine under the bonnet, and as I had a similar slight smell in my vehicle it was concluded that it may have been a smell given off from some vegetation we had driven past. Turning onto Mount Pinnibar track was the start of a steep climb to the top requiring low range. On the way up everyone commented on the beautiful white flowers on the side of the track, thought to be Forget-Me-Not. Arriving at the top it was very cold and windy, quite a contrast from the temperatures back at camp with coats and jackets coming out. At a height of 1772M this is the highest point in Victoria one can drive to. The 360 deg views of the surrounding mountains are spectacular and all the cameras got a good workout. “Tom Groggin Track” “Mt Pinnibar 2” On our way back to camp we stopped to take in the view at Scammel Lookout, then onto Khancoban for an ice cream stop but unfortunately the shop was closed, so back to camp, arriving back just in time for fivesees. “Scammel Lookout” “Driving Down Mt Pinnibar” From here we headed off to Tom Groggin for lunch, and after a long steep decent with one or two creek crossings we reached the Murray River. Crossing the Murray we arrived at Tom Grogging camp ground for lunch and aired up. Thanks Laurie and Chris for a most enjoyable long weekend. Fred and Valda Lubbe 1317
