Day 3.

Sunday 28th January Bluff Falls

A cooler day at 25 deg.

After a briefing session we departed the rapidly emptying Clack Clack Caravan Park at 9.15 am to the Corryong Cemetery. We viewed the grave of the “Man From Snowy River”, Jack Riley who was buried there on 16 July 1914. The grave has a large round concrete headstone, the significance of which we did not determine.

After much needed coffee at The Upper Murray Community Bakery in Corryong we drove through Cudgewa, a town time has passed by, which in itself makes an attractive place. Then onto the Burrowa – Pine Mountain National Park. Here we drove along the Lower Dogman Track, a slow windy track and then started climbing up to Bluff Falls. Alas, a log across the track necessitated a deviation around it that called for the able guidance by Laurie, low ratio and diff lock up a steep slope and through a narrow gap back onto the track. Quite exciting, with lots of photos.

While the flow of water over Bluff Falls was low it was never the less well worth the visit.

From the Falls we headed back to camp to enjoy a relaxing day after 2 quite full days at Mt Benambra and Mt Pinnabar.

Thanks to Laurie, Chris, Ian and Maryanne.

John Tulloch 982.

Thanks everyone for making it yet another enjoyable weekend in this lovely part of Victoria.

A special thanks to Rob Hillman for “volunteering” to lead the Overflow Group.

I had 17 members reply to do the trip which I felt was too many to say “Trip Full” to, so Rob stepped in to lead this group, in the end only a group of 6.

In our group special thanks to all those who wrote trip reports, sent in photos or were TEC.

I look forward to doing it again next year.

Thank you all.

Laurie
